A YEAR IN PRAYER    "Using God's Word to pray"

Where will you hide your pride on the Day of Judgment?

If everything you have has been given to you, what's the basis of your pride?

Are you going along with the "I am proud to be and to do evil" thinking of today's generation?

DAY # 154

TODAY’S REQUEST:

TO CONFRONT THE PRIDE OF LIFE IN OUR HEART

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world––the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life––is not of the Father but is of the world.
2 Chronicles 32:26 Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah.
Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 21:24 A proud and haughty man ––"Scoffer" is his name; He acts with arrogant pride.
Proverbs 29:23 A man’s pride will bring him low, But the humble in spirit will retain honor.
1 Timothy 3: 2-6 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober–minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; 3 not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; 4 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5 (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); 6 not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 He who has a love for silver never has enough silver, or he who has love for wealth, enough profit. This again is to no purpose.

HOW DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO EXPRESS THIS REQUEST?

GLORYING ONLY IN THIS: THAT WE KNOW AND LOVE CHRIST OUR LORD

James 4:7-17 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double–minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. 11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another? 13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that." 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Psalms 33:21 For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name.
Jeremiah 9:23, 24 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24 But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.
