A YEAR IN PRAYER    "Using God's Word to pray"

Is your heart steadfast, trusting in the Lord in spite of evil tidings?

Are the afflictions in your life causing you to be disenchanted, discontent and discouraged?

Are you reading, studying, and listening to the word of God in order to strengthen your faith?

DAY # 146

TODAY’S REQUEST:

PRAYING FOR STEADFASTNESS EVEN UNDER AFFLICTION

Psalms 112:1-7 Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments. 2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever. 4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5 A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. 6 Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Hebrews 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."

HOW DO THE SCRIPTURES TELL US TO EXPRESS THIS REQUEST?

TRUSTING ALWAYS IN THE LORD, AND NOT BEING AFRAID OF EVIL TIDINGS

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Psalms 57:7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise.
Psalms 108:1 O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.
2 Peter 3:11-18 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. 14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation––as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
